Meghan just wrote this on her blog:

Yesterday, Jules was down on herself about being so outspoken and unable to control the press. I told Julia it’s part of her charm and she should never try to mold herself into something she’s not. If you don’t think lifecasting on the Internet affects our personal life, it does, and it grates on all of us from time-to-time. Forbes questions why exactly Julia is famous? She’s unique in a society that often rewards conformity, not afraid to be herself, expressive, often impulsive (much to my chagrin) and she handles the negative press with more grace and humor than anyone I know.

This meant so much to me.
Especially because I received the below email last night:

Your blog was a gateway into this ideal thought, but with this last post not only have I changed my mind about your ability, there is something I just have to say.It is very disappointing to read your lack of enthusiasm/confidence for what you have apparently (or at least led us to believe) poured your soul into. I am 24 and have my own company and have fought similar battles. Nevertheless, I have poured my soul into it and would never think of slying off into the shadows to take a vacation from it. Sure we all need breaks, but I have read your all too familiar bouts of second thoughts and doubts that keep you up at night. I just can’t imagine someone spending all their energy on something they either aren’t sure of or want to walk away from. That is what is wrong with corporate America today. They all want the glory, they just don’t want to work for it.I understand it’s difficult and sometimes you want to run away, but you have chosen to live this life. You have made this a business. You have made this your career in life. You have spread the words far and wide and now you don’t want to do it anymore? I’m sorry but as a woman who has bleed, sweated, and cried over her business, I just can’t so easily decide it isn’t worth it. It’s a shame that you feel like posting your negativity to a world waiting for you to fail. It just further promotes the fact that you aren’t meant for the path you chose. Blogging/ self promotion is certainly not your forte nor your passion…so bow out gracefully please. If you truly loved what you did, complaining would be in the very corners of your mind and you would do anything to overcome the trials. It seems that you want the glory of your venture without consequences. When was this ever reality? Sure people go down roads that weren’t meant for them, but whining that you want to leave and coming back tomorrow with a changed mind time and time again is just disappointing. How can people take you seriously? If you started something that isn’t for you, realize it and move on to something better. Don’t waste your life and webspace to promote your wasted and failed attempt at success and fame.I have spent my life working to prove that woman are intelligent and savvy enough to build a company as good or better as any man. You are proving my work and the work of woman everywhere to be worthless and because of woman like you, that is why we are still fighting. Mary and Meghan at least happily and confidently attempt to make this venture a success. I’m sure you will take this the wrong way, but all I wish to do is open your eyes to either care enough to stick your venture out, or go down a path more fitting. You may be sharing the ups and downs of your business venture, but in the end it comes off like you bit off more than you care to chew. You don’t come off as a strong and confident woman able to survive in this world and that’s the saddest failure of all.
