Subject: Green juice in Chicago?Julia,
Love love love nonsociety.com and love the blog. We have similar tastes in fashion and I love getting style ideas from you. I live in Chicago and cannot find a place that you can get green juice from? Almost all of them are the crap smoothies, full of sugar, etc. Since you are in Chi for the weekend, I thought you might have some idea of where to get them! I live in Lincoln Park.
Thanks!
Kristin
Hi Kristin!
Okay, so, first of all, you’re absolutely on the right track - most people confuse “juice” with … well … “juice”! Like Jamba juice. And apple juice. And Snapple juice. When I say “juice” I mean, of course, NONE of those things, as drinking those juices is the same as just pouring sugar into a glass of water and downing that. WHY!?! (Or, at least if you DO drink those, don’t you dare think you’re being “healthy.”)
So, for real juices in Chicago - fresh green juices, made in front of you with no additives or sugars, or “smoothie” bullshit, I suggest the following, courtesy of Erica from Blueprint, who called her girl friend who lives in Chicago to recommend a few places!
Karyn’s Fresh Corner Cafe, Raw Vegan Gourmet Restaurant
1901 North Halsted Street
The Mother Earth Café & Organic Juice Bar
2570 N. Lincoln Ave
Chicago Diner on Halstead (raw specials and fresh juice)
3411 N. Halsted Street
