Hi Julia!
Per your request, location ideas for that “New York at a glance” Aussie shoot: Grand Central, Central Park (the Mall?), the steps of the Met, that intersection in Meatpacking where all the brick streets come together, Times Square (yawn), the Staten Island Ferry (haha, but you can’t mistake that skyline), Chinatown (what’s more NY than a jungle of stalls hawking fake Prada bags?), Cipriani, Columbus Circle, Gramercy Park Hotel, Le Cirque, Washington Square?
Can’t wait to see the results!
xx, Cary
Some solid ones in there!
Here’s another suggestion:
I don’t have a picture of this, but you could emulate the statue of liberty with your laptop being the book she holds and your blackberry as the torch, while wearing the gown and some sort of statue of liberty foam crown. I realize this would be horribly tacky ;)
Ummmm … yes. As tacky as I inherently am, even I wouldn’t stoop to this level. But! A worthy suggestion nonetheless.
- Flatiron building
- Grand Central Station
- steps of the Met (bonus Gossip Girl associations)
- Bryant Park or NYPL
- Brooklyn Promenade (lower Manhattan in the background)
- rotating sculpture in Astor Place
- Battery Park City (if you can get the Statue of Liberty in the background)and no need for a taxi. what about a subway? or a hansom cab? in fact a subway shoot might be the most new york of all.
Love this idea and feel like an idiot for not thinking of it. SUBWAY IN A GOWN = perfect.
It would be awesome if you wore a replica of the dress Courtney Cox wore for the promo pics for “Dirt” (luscious red) while standing in the middle of Times Square.
Or you could wear that same dress walking through Central Park.
An even better idea would be you in the dress, standing in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art… or strolling through the American Museum of Natural History.
Might try Times Square. Cliche, but almost so much so that no one’s done it in a long time, and so it’s not. If that makes any sense.
What about siting on one of the lions in front of the public library? Wind machine etc. Kind of surrealist, litle girl lost. Your photographer could play with the light maybe around twilight.
LOVE. Will definitely try this!
