So, I got a call today from a casting director looking for … well, the below.  If there’s something that proves how different I am from the girl who moved to Manhattan five years ago, I basically screamed, “Oh HELLS to the no!!”  Is there a more definitive modern way of ensuring you WON’T find love than appearing on reality television??  Perhaps being sent to prison. Actually, no.  I take that back. I bet inmates have higher relationship success rates.
Now, that said, there was most definitely a time in my life when I would have wanted to do this (a time - not that long ago - when I dated just for the fun of it, to entertain myself, for the “brunch stories,” if you will).  And of course, Mary, Meghan & I filmed an entire Bravo pilot two years ago that fits this description, so that’s more than hypothetical.
But this is what I told the casting agent, and what I’ll tell you: there is absolutely a time and place to do a show like this, when you’re young and fun and you just don’t care.  That just doesn’t happen to be me anymore.
Now, that may very well be the stage you’re at, however.  A few words of advice: if you have a SPECIFIC goal (like promoting your fashion line or small business) that reality tv can help you achieve, then, by all means, go for it.  If you’re one of those rare people whom EVERYONE likes, who is charming and lovely and naturally charismatic (a Taylor Swift type), do it.  If you don’t care about getting married anytime soon (and there’s nothing wrong with that!!  That was most of my twenties!), do it.
But don’t delude yourself - or let the producers delude you - into thinking reality tv is actually a good plan for meeting the love of your life.
