Subject: Job rejections
As a student at Brown University, I applied to Borders Books every summer and winter break. In Alaska. Rejected each time. Not even an interview. After I graduated with a BA in Political Science I went back home to Alaska for a few months. I finally received a call one day.
“Hi, I’m calling from Borders. I have your application here and we’d like you to come in for an interview.”
“Thanks for calling but I can’t. I’m actually leaving tomorrow forever, to New York City.”
