So I’ve been on a preemptive Spring Cleaning purge for two months now, frantically trying to clear my tiny space of ancient and unworn items in a valiant attempt to achieve some sort of inner(closet) peace - while simultaneously making room for new acquisitions (bonus!).  Not to mention, there’s always a certain segment of one’s clothing stock that has absolutely nothing wrong with it, but you’re just SO SICK OF that every time you spot them, you feel a little guilty/ill/annoyed.  Double that frustration if you paid any serious sum of cash for it. I wanted those items ALL GONE.

In any case, I sent four or five crates of stuff to Housing Works (my charity of choice), and still had two enormous bags left when Meghan & I started reminiscing about the Clothing Swap I hosted back in the day (2006!!).  It was, to put it mildly, a rousing success, although with our crazy travel schedule in the intervening years, we never bothered to repeat it.

That ended yesterday, and thank god!  I brought a bag of things I never wanted to see again, and came home with a bag filled with total finds - including a Juicy Couture puffer, two adorable sundresses (one of which I had actually eyed in the store a year ago!), a pair of Cynthia Rowley linen shorts, a sexy going-out shirt and two stunning cocktail numbers.  It felt like a thousand dollar shopping spree - for FREE.

The interesting thing (which Jordan noted) was that - despite the fact that twenty girls attended - no one fought over their top choices, and no one went home unhappy or empty handed.

Most girls came around 7, with the last one leaving around midnight - and I don’t think we stopped talking or laughing the entire time.  It was so much fun, in fact, that Meghan & I have vowed to throw these at least twice a year.

If you haven’t yet, you should really try hosting one yourself … I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised!!

And finally - the most exciting part (for you!  I hope, at least. ha): I’ve saved a bag of my favorite items from my closet to give away to you!  After all, why should my friends get all the fun?!?

So in the intervening days - until my birthday (Feb 28th!) - I’ll be posting dresses and bags and various pink accoutrements for you to win or bid on (for charity).

Okay, I’m off to film my third segment of the day, wearing my brand new hand-me-down black dress with white lace!

Have a lovely weekend, all of you.  xoxo!
