You know I’m a bit obsessed with this whole “let’s all try to be really happy” thing … so I found this on the Huffington Post and had to share it with you.  Run through the questions to assess how satisfied you are with your life, right now:

1. How often do you get to do things you really like to do?
2. How often do you find yourself actively looking forward to the day ahead?
3. How often do you get so involved in what you’re doing you lose track of time?
4. How often do you feel invigorated at the end of a long, busy day?
5. How often do you feel an emotional high in your life?
6. Are you currently eating chocolate chips? *

Not surprisingly, the researchers found “women who could answer positively to the questions above had, on some level, simply decided that they were going to be happy. They made that choice.” Other than that, they had very little in common.

Just remember - you can be unhappy no matter where you are, no matter how much you have (a great significant other, a lot of money, a successful career, a home with a kegerator, whatever you dream about at night).  If you want to live your life in a State of Constant Upset, as I call it (okay, that’s a lie, I’ve never called it that, but I’m starting now) - that’s your choice.  But at least realize it’s your choice, and stop blaming those around you for your ennui.

Or, alternatively, try some chocolate chips!

* I may have added this one.  Because I may (cough cough) be eating them right now, and it may be contributing to my happiness.
** Now I am finished eating them, and I am sad.
