When I first moved to New York, almost exactly five years ago (late October 2004), my then-boyfriend Alex & I would drive around Manhattan for hours listening to this album.
I fell in love with both him - and this fascinating, complicated, beautiful city - to the sounds of these tracks.
In retrospect, I’m not sure whether falling in love with him made me love the music, or whether the music set the stage - in some small way - for falling in love with him - but either way, the two are inexorably linked in my mind.
They’ll forever make me smile.
