Study Break!
I am proud to say that I just had about three hours of “uninterrupted” studying, and by “uninterrupted” I mean “only interrupted by my pet dog,” who has somehow decided that GMAT Study Time = Play Fetch with Lilly time. And who am I to tell a small white shih-tzu no?
But I’m also proud to report I have taken down all framed photos/stuck to fridge photos...

Post Breakup
Meghan: It's going to be okay. You just need to cut it off for a while, give yourself a chance to heal.
Me: I know.
Meghan: You need to ... wait ... ARE YOU WEARING HIS SHIRT???
Me: [guilty] Uh ... what! No!
Meghan: Yes you are.
Me: [sighs] Yes I am.
Meghan: TAKE THAT OFF RIGHT NOW.

Sometimes the heart doesn’t mourn the relationship you had so much as the...
– Okay, I promised (myself) I wouldn’t post any more today, but I just got a reader email which wondered why I was so upset over the breakup of someone I had been seeing since early November, and I really want to write about this. So, since I know that if I don’t, I’ll just ruminate...

From: A reader Date: March 31, 2010 12:08:05 PM EDT To: julia@nonsociety.com Subject: :) Dear Julia, I don’t know you, and you don’t know me at all. But I read your blog regularly, and my heart hurts every time I read one of your most recent posts. I feel for you—I really do. Just please, please know that it will get better. I promise. “You can spend minutes, hours,...

– David Brooks in the New York Times today
Great.
I wish I could say that, a week after we broke up, things are better. They’re not.
Something else really, really crappy happened to me yesterday - I lost a fairly important deal - and I had (yet another) melt down. Prom King, being the person he is, made sure I was okay … invited me over, talked with me, let me sleep at his place because he didn’t want me to have to be alone.

Wanna be a model...?
katrinaszish:
I’m looking for 2 female models to wear fabulous shoes on national TV next Tuesday. It’s a live fashion segment on a network morning show, there will be 5 models (I already have 3), and it will be fun. Participants must be NYC-based. There will be a fitting on Monday afternoon at the studio.
Interested?
Email me a snapshot and shoe and dress sizes by 9am tomorrow!

Dad: Hey J! Heard you're taking the GMAT soon!

Dad: You know, that's Good Friday. Jesus got crucified ... so ... Good luck!
Me: Um ... thanks?

I am ...
studying all day for the GMAT today, although with the depressing New York rain and its accompanying chill-I-can’t-shake, all I really want to do is climb back into bed and nap.
I spent the morning at Kaplan with my tutor, who is a saint and never makes me feel stupid, which must take an incredible amount of effort on his part. ;) ha He’s one of those brilliant traders for whom math...

oh ... hi.
I don’t really know where to begin, except to say that right now, at this very moment, I don’t want to write this entry. I don’t want to write it not because it doesn’t need to be written - it does - but because I would rather take an Ambien, crawl into my bed and go to sleep.
After last night, in which I tossed and turned with anxiety until 6 am, at which point I fell...
Maybe you have to let go of who you were to become who you will be.
– Carrie Bradshaw. It somehow seems very fitting to end this chapter - or begin this hiatus - with a quote from, of all people, her. ;)
And with that, my friends, adieu.
For what it’s worth: it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. There’s...

Goodbye, for now.
Hello there.
Although I don’t know you and you don’t - let’s face it - really know me, we’ve been through a lot. I started blogging in 2006, and began this lifecast in 2007. I chugged away, dutifully recording these bits of my existence, photographing and captioning and - especially in the first years - reflecting quite a lot, ruminating on life, love, and happiness. ...

– A 91-year-old woman named Jean (interviewed by Erica Kennedy)
It’s becoming more and more clear to me that life is just about that: to love and to be loved. If you have that, you don’t need anything else. And if you don’t have that, nothing else matters.

– Maybe one of the funniest things I’ve read in the past week, from an entry in “My Mom, The Style Icon” on whether your maternal unit was, in fact, “wild” as a young woman.
I personally doubt that my mom was particularly wild, although I do have photographic evidence...
